Back on the National Road, a Police car escort and stunning sunrise

It was below 4 degrees when I left this morning, crispy cold and a very colourful sky. The only road ahead was the National Road, fairly flat and inland – very pretty rural landscapes and I was hoping for a quiet day.

About 10km into the run, I got a visit from the Guardia Civil. I was surprised, it had been a long time they had not checked on me! We chatted for a while, and I got to explain what I was doing (and that there was no baby in that stroller!). They told me they had received some calls from worried motorists. Anyway, they gave me their encouragements. And as we were on a narrow stretch of the National Road, they escorted me for the next 2 kilometers, until the shoulder got wider. I felt like a total rock star!

Besides this, I experienced some more issues with my hotel booking tonight. It seems that, in the off-season, the touristic resorts are less diligent maybe about the guests. And to be fair, I am often the only guest in the premises… Anyway, I once again sorted myself out, but it is tedious to have to sort this out at the end of the run… and doing so whilst tired may not be the best setting for making good decisions!
