Country roads, cycling paths, orange orchards – a rural journey to Castello

Today’s run was very quiet. Taking the CV18 road, I got sheltered from traffic a few kilometers from the start. The road was completely flat, zigzagging among the Plana Alta, bordered by a mountain range further up North (Desert De Les Palmes). The visibility was not good enough to see it well, though, maybe I get a clear shot at it tomorrow.

I got a little 4-legged companion following me for a while. He joined me during a snack-break and thereafter ran by my side, trying to hop in BoB’s lower basket. Though I am fond of cats, I had to grab him by the neck and drop him back to where he came from – he had a collar on and I don’t know how long he would have run by my side.

The arrival in Castello De La Plana was pleasant, Saturday morning crowds out, shopping and filling the outdoors terrasses. And though today was a very short day of running, I indulged in a mighty nap of over two hours. From day 1 of the world run, sleep has been the most notable and dramatic metabolic adjustment I have gone through. I used to get by with 4 to 5 hours of sleep. I now sleep 9 hours at night in addition to an afternoon nap. Maybe that’s the secret to my form!
