A short day on the road, through Kavala and finish by the sea again

The view from the office today…

I could not find my pace today. Though it was a short run with relatively not too much positive elevation, my rhythm was constantly being broken. The road would go up, to a gradient where running became difficult with the stroller. Then down, again at gradients not so easy with the stroller. All in all I was completely out of it for most of the run!

Kavala, its fortress

Midway through I ran by Kavala, a major touristic and economic centre in northern Greece. As I arrived by the coastal road, it was beautiful, set by a bay and with the Byzantine fortress culminating above the old town. A splendid view. Nea Karvali is a seaside resort about 10km further northeast from Kavala. I am surprised how quiet the beach resorts are in northern Greece at this time of year (they are in full swing in southern Greece from early June).

I have another 4 days of running ahead before I take my next rest day. It will be an 11 days stretch, quite a lot (I normally take 1 rest day every week). I guess I am in a hurry to reach Istanbul now!
