Europe

An easy flat and shorter day to conclude the week of running, reaching the seaside on a sunny day

Running in this environment…

A sweet day today, under bright blue sunny skies. I sometimes say that I don’t always need a rest day, that they are a luxury I afford but that I could bypass. Well, for sure, the one I am getting this week is one I am very much looking forward to! The week has been tiring, I was running on terrains where my stroller was very much a burden and I did not get all the sleep I am accustomed to. So, all in all: I feel like I very much need my rest day!

Anti GMO statement

I ran on secondary roads, surrounded by fields left and right. I learned as I ran across San Ferdinando, that this is a region of Peaches and Artichokes. It’s interesting as I notice a lot of towns in Italy have a board at the entry, with a mention of whether they use GMO or not. Two hitches today. The first one was a walking path from Google Maps sending me to cross the railway – where there is no bridge or underground tunnel. The second one where I encountered some heavily flooded road and had to go deep in muddy waters with BoB. I will need to thoroughly clean the stroller tomorrow, it’s been through hell this week!

Entering Barletta historical centre

I reached Barletta at midday and a cyclist joined me, chatting along as I ran through the city. Gianni is a local who is also a bit of an adventurer himself. I understand he is keen to ride by my side as I will leave Barletta in two days, that’s very kind and it’s been a while since I last had company on the road. Barletta seems to be a very fine city with beautiful architecture. I will try and get a good tour of the city tomorrow. Time for R&R!
