Europe

A quiet run by the Roccarainola forest and hills on an overcast and warm day

The Roccarainola forest and hills

Leaving Pompei, I am now heading inland, starting my west to east crossing of Italy. The next three to four days will see me go up and down around the mountains that run through Italy like a spinal structure. Today was not hilly though, the last flat day before it gets tough. Nature is in full bloom, I was glad to be running closer to nature and away from urbanity.

Uncle Tom’s Cabin – a new supporter!

As I got close to my arrival point I went to a minimart (“Uncle Toms’ Cabin”) to get some essentials. The owner spotted right away that I was no ordinary traveller and started to guess (in french and english) what I may be doing. His guess is that I was travelling on foot around Europe. Well, not far from the truth and looks like what I’ve been doing for well over a year now! We posed for a picture in front of his store, one more supporter of the journey!

Camposano’s main street

Camposano is a very small commune, quiet and semi rural. The town centre is set along a narrow street with only the church tower and municipal building standing out. I went for a stroll around as soon as I arrived and I was lucky with the weather. A thunderstorm broke in the afternoon and I realised that though I have had tough weather to confront in the past year, I have never been out running in a thunderstorm. May it stay this way as long as possible!
