Leaving lake Como on a beautiful day, some issues with BoB the stroller and a magnificent arrival in Milan

Castello di Carimate

I could have happily stayed one more day in Como. The city is so beautiful, the lake so tempting and the hills overlooking it are an invitation for some leisurely hiking. I had been in Como before and therefore had no regrets when I left this morning. The weather was beautiful and everywhere you looked there was a picture to be taken. The start of the run was uphill, for about a third of the way. When I ran through Carimate I stopped to admire the amazing castle. I could not get in because of the crisis, but even just the outside view was beautiful.

Emergency rivet surgery intervention on BoB the Stroller

As I mounted a pavement I suddenly heard BoB the Stroller shriek. Something had snapped and I had the unnerving feeling of a deja-vu. I stopped to inspect the frame until I found the guilty bit: a rivet had snapped and was now missing. Damn! It’s one of 16 which hold the frame together at the bottom-rear section. The situation was not dire but needed to be addressed. I found a “carozzeria” and the mechanics there were very helpful and fixed the stroller for free (I did not ask!). That was very kind. It looks like the rivets on BoB are becoming a recurring issue after now nearly 12,000kms of running.

Il Duomo di Milano (feat. BoB the Stroller)

As I approached Milan, the sky suddenly got darker and rain/hail fell on the city. The light was beautiful. I arrived in the centre via the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II directly to Il Duomo di Milano, the Cathedral of Milan. What an amazing entry into the city! In normal times it would have been crowded of course and today I had the entire place to myself… I am looking forward to seeing more of the city tomorrow, under better skies hopefully.
