Europe

A tough start all the way up to the Brunig Pass, the Alps and Eiger mountain in the background and some more Lakes

The day started foggy and cold, and what awaited me was a climb up to the Brunig Pass at 1008m. What I did not know was that the path I had selected to run on was highly unsuitable for BoB the stroller. As usual when I elect to run on path, I always check on Google Maps if they are suitable for walking and cycling. Today though I have no idea how cyclists are supposed to go the way I ran… The first part went easy, then the path swerved into the mountain, on a single track path that was steep, rocky and snowy or disappearing in parts.

And just on the last turn, as I finally reached the Pass, the Alps were once again in front of me. The fog was gone and it was all blue sky and sunshine. Brilliant! I ran down the Pass to the city of Brienz by the Brienzersee: a beautiful lake with Interlaken at its western tip. I ran all around the lake, with the Eiger and Jungfrau mountains in plain sights, some 4000m summits, majestic.

I ran further past the Brienzersee to the Thunersee, yet another superb lake. I am staying in a small village tonight, Leissigen, right by the lake. Switzerland has been amazing so far. I know I am extremely lucky with the weather so far. And though the weather forecasts look quite bad for the week ahead, I keep in mind that in the mountains, weather changes very quickly. I might be in luck!
