Day 267 – EU – France [Sancerre to St Brisson Sur Loire]

43km

From Sancerre (France) to St Brisson Sur Loire (France)

Europe

Storm Bella for company today, very strong winds and rain – 6 keen runners and cyclists awaited me in St Brisson for a royal finish 🙂

Storm Bella is currently wiping through the UK and France (mostly north-western). I was running mostly on “departementales” (secondary) roads and was glad I didn’t have to share the road with cars. The wind was so strong at times I was afraid it could break some trees or branches of trees and fall on me.

It was so cold I had 2 tights on, 2 pairs of socks, 2 t shirts, 1 long-sleeves shirt, 1 jacket and my usual waterproof garments. I found it challenging to run with three layers on my legs and surely that’s something I will not be doing again (unless super cold). In general running was uneasy today because of the wind mostly.

As I approached St Brisson, I was surprised by a group of people! My hosts tonight, Anne & Thierry, spread the word in the village about my arrival. I ended up with 6 cyclists and runners and also a photographer journalist from the “Centre Republicain”! It was really sweet and made my day, even if that was only the last 2 kilometers, but what a great surprise! Thankfully, a few of them will be meeting me tomorrow at 8am for the first leg towards Germigny. Lucky me!
