A bright and warm day through the leafy suburbs of North West Chicago

What a pleasure to still be running in warm weather. Today’s skies were bright and blue, temperatures were in the 20s (Celsius) by the time I headed out of the door. Making my way to Chicago meant I had to go through a large suburban area. The route today took me through very quiet and beautiful places.

At some point I stopped for a break by the local stadium where kids were playing baseball practice. Families sitting around the stadium, cheering on the children and enjoying picnics. I sat down too – and as usual I got most of the mums turn around and smile at me (thinking of course that I am a mum too, going for a run with a baby in my stroller!).

I reached Elk Grove Village and there is not much to do as I am right next to the O’Hare Airport, Chicago’s main airport. I spent the afternoon traveling downtown to pick up my race package for tomorrow’s Chicago Marathon and back to the hotel. Now on for some rest and … as for the “good food” there doesn’t seem to be much around except the usual Subway… it will have to do!
