Europe

Another fine day of running in the plains of Peloponnese and a rest day ahead in Kyparissia

It has been eight days since the last day off and I have been looking forward to another one, mostly because of being so much behind on my sleep. As I have mentioned before, sleep is the major adjustment I have had to make since starting the world run. From a 5hrs a night sleeper, I went to 9 or 10hrs a night (including nap time). That’s a tremendous adjustment and it sometimes takes very little to throw me off balance. A day off should help sort this out.

The run today was fairly easy, by the side of the main road, which I escaped as often as possible to run by the many little trails and paths. I particularly enjoyed the flat runs this week, as I know that next week will be a lot more mountainous and I should prepare for much harder work!

As I picked fruits off the trees again on my breaks, I noticed how my diet has radically changed since entering Greece. A lot more fish, vegetables, cheese (everything literally swimming in olive oil)… and fruits on the go of course. I haven’t noticed a change in my energy levels or in my running – but clearly my taste buds appreciate the change.Tomorrow is a day off and there seems to be a fair amount to see in Kyparissia. At minima a sea swim and the castle visit are in order!
