The tranquility of quiet roads for a flat run amongst the agricultural plains of the Elis region

I started off running along the coastline for a little while this morning, then the Old National Road took me inland for the rest of the run. A lot of activity in the fields and very little traffic made for a very peaceful and tranquil run.

I only passed by a couple of villages on the way. As I passed by the village of Lapas and stopped at a petrol station for a break, a truck driver stopped and crossed the street to greet me: he had seen me leave Kaminia at dawn this morning. He told me I was very strong for a small woman! I took it as a compliment 🙂

Saw many watermelon fields on the way – I have seen them before but am always surprised what they look like. It basically looks like the watermelons have been laid out there somehow (and very disorderly so) as opposed to growing from the ground.

I rest today in the small village of Manolada, not your traditional touristic destination – I got all eyes on me as I entered the village and made my way to the AirBnB accommodation near the main “platia”. They don’t get to see visitors very often over here!
