A challenging day on roads and trails, cutting up and down through the mountains towards the sea

I had not intended to go off-road onto trails today. But a navigation error early in the run sent me off to a dust road, which then led to a rocky trail. And by the time I realised I was supposed to be 100% on road today, I was already too far off the trail. So I kept going.

In retrospect it would not have made a big difference. Around 3 kilometers more. But it sure would have spared me the difficulties of pushing BoB the stroller through paths hugely inadequate for its stature! There were some very challenging kilometers, let’s leave it at that 🙂

The mountains were mostly deserted today, I must have met in all one shepherd, some cattle and a dozen cars, that would have been it. Very quiet and peaceful. Lucky with the weather too as the morning was clouded and it kept me off the heat.

In all, a great and challenging day! I am very glad to be in Nafpaktos today. Not only because it’s a beautiful seaside city, but also because I can see the Rio-Antirrio bridge far off in the distance, that connects Western Greece to the Peloponnese. And that is where I am headed tomorrow, it feels like making good progress.
