Day 539 – US – Minnesota [Wabasha to St Charles]

26/09/21

56km

From Wabasha (Minnesota) to St Charles (Minnesota)

North America

A cold and long run on the gravel road, in Minnesota’s countryside

It’s getting cold! It was less than 5 Celsius as I left this morning, and a blanket of clouds kept the temperatures below 10 Celsius the whole way. It’s time I invest in some winter gear again, I need long sleeves and a warm hat it seems.

Along Highway 74

I ran the first 20 km on a quiet country road. Then I turned towards Highway 74 which was essentially a gravel road. Around me were the prairies and swamps of the Whitewater Valley state park. The park is famous for trout fishing, but I mainly saw hunters today. It was mostly very quiet.

Through Whitewater State Park

I reached St Charles, a very small town mostly known for being a gateway to the park – not much to do or see around here. I’m glad to be back near the river and lakes tomorrow!
