Anything but routine! Got up to 100kph wind gusts and delayed the start till it was safe to head out the door

That was quite unexpected! I do check the weather forecast everyday, looking 5 days ahead in general, from at least 2 different sources (Accuweather and Google weather app). Well I can report that both of them miserably failed to predict the almighty angry wind that blew from 2 am till midday today!

I got woken up at 2am by the infernal racket of the wind slapping the window blinds against the frame outdoors. I didn’t think much of it, attached everything back in place so it wouldn’t slam and got back to sleep. But as I headed out at 5:30am, I got shocked at the strength of the wind. No sooner had I exited the counter-alley of the flat that I got literally swiped to the side and BoB the stroller got turned 90 degrees in a wink, out of my hands.

I promptly headed back indoors and waited there, reading a book (and checking WindGuru) until I could tell the frequency and strength of the wind gusts had gone down. It’s lucky that today was a “small” day of running at only 37km. I hit the road at 10am and made my way to Ploce just after 2pm, on time for lunch.

As I ran downhill towards Ploce it started raining, the sky was grey and low, temperatures were cooling down. I opened Google Weather App. It read: Ploce, 28 degrees, Sunny (no mention of wind or rain – just the sun icon against the blue sky background). Try harder Google!

Anyhow, it made for a very pleasant day on the road, with cool temperatures and I shouldn’t complain: the wind was mostly a side or tailwind. For once in a long time I did not have to worry about the heat, I was comfortable as can be and enjoyed the vistas. They looked very different today against a cloudy then grey background. But beautiful nonetheless!
