Day 133 – EU – Croatia [Rest Day in Split]

Rest day in Split (Croatia, Europe)

An easy going rest day in a stunning gem on the coast, beautiful city of Split, Croatia

I was a bit saddened today as I had to cancel my much awaited day-trip to Krka Waterfalls. Given the signs my body sent me yesterday, the priority was to spend a low-key day, mostly indoors in the air con, sheltered from the heat.

I woke up early and to my dismay: the sky was clouded, there was a light wind blowing and the temperatures were rather cool. I wish this had happened on a running day! It remained this way till about lunchtime, then it all dissipated in the afternoon heatwave conditions. C’est la vie!

I made the best of my time indoors. Dismantled BoB and checked all the nooks and crannies, cleaned everything, oiled what had to be lubricated. Pumped the tires. I was quite shocked to see that part of a tire had been eaten up by some melted tarmac! In general, the tires I got at Christmas in Seville are now completely worned out – and I am hoping to get some fresh ones by next week!

Next week will see me running further South on the Dalmatian coast, towards another jewel on the coast: Dubrovnik! If all goes well I will also get to meet my older brother and his family. That makes me very much looking forward to the week ahead of course 🙂
