North America

Smooth run on a quiet road all the way to Ellensburg and on to a rest day

Running out of Cle Elum early morning

I had planned to run on trails again today but I made a last minute decision to switch to a quiet road. The WA10 road follows the train line and the Yakima river and since Interstate 90 absorbs all the traffic, there is almost no car on the WA10. It was very quiet and peaceful. I was not keen to put the stroller through another day of trail running, as the rivets got loose again. This is a recurring issue now. I have changed the rivets several times over and with each change, there is more and more sideways swing. In short, I am losing trust in BoB!

By the Yakima River and the old train line

Anyhow the road was absolutely beautiful again. The contrast with Europe is striking. This land is so vast and unpopulated. Running through it is exhilarating, there is a sense of freedom and wilderness that I have not yet felt (not this way at least) in the journey. I guess it’s only the beginning, I know that crossing Montana for example will be even less populated and more wild.

A curious local

I am glad to have a rest day in Ellensburg. It’s a charming little town and everybody today has been very friendly with me so far. The weather is still very hot, much above what they are used to in the region and thankfully the wind was keeping temperatures down (I was glad to have it in my back as I was running!). On to a good rest now!

Check out today’s flyover video including the pictures at the exact place they were taken (the software does it for me using time stamps and geolocalisation): https://www.relive.cc/view/vYvrAGPkJxq
