Europe

Snowing and foggy all the way, running by the river banks paths, a short run to Besancon

Another stingy cold and snowy day! I am surprised how I get to dress relatively “lightly” to endure temperatures below 0 Celsius. I wear a t-shirt and a long sleeve shirt, topped with my High-Vis sleeveless jacket and that is it. When the snow is more intense and melts on me, I also wear a waterproof cover, but I keep it open so as not to get too hot. A pair of gloves, long leggings and that is it.

So far, the range I have had to endure since I restarted the world run mid-December is -6 to 0 Celsius. As I understand (and starting tomorrow) I am going to go through temperatures below -10 Celsius (real feel). I may want to add a few layers to my attire! The “fingers injury” is getting better. The ergonomic adaptation of the handlebar of BoB the stroller is working wonders. I no longer experience stiffness, tiredness or pain whilst running. I keep massaging and stretching the fingers, hoping the issue will solve itself without having to treat it medically. Let’s see.

I arrived in Besancon, which is a famous town for its historical heritage, the Citadel, Vauban fortifications and being the historic capital of watchmaking in France. It was foggy and snowy as I took a stroll through the city center but I still managed to take a few snaps of the place! I met with Juliette, a journalist from the local press. I am quite surprised since I started the run in France, how the local press is consistently interested in my journey. A very positive interaction. Tomorrow is a long day on the road, there’s about 50kms to Dole, I am hoping the roads will be as quiet and peaceful as they were today!
