Day 270 – EU – France [Rest Day in Orleans]

Rest day in Orleans (France, Europe)

Walking around Orleans and a lot of time spent planning the next two weeks

The Christmas lights and wide boulevards

I enjoyed this day off the road! I went for a round of Orleans on foot in the morning and it was beautiful. I wanted to walk the streets I ran on yesterday, take time to really see it all, the Cathedral, the Beffroi (tower) of the city, the Christmas lights and wide boulevards. It was awesome.

I also had some errands to run. Some of my cables (computer and GPS) have worn off over the past year and needed replacing. I have also decided to replace one of my two bottles with a thermos, so as to have a hot drink with me on the road (most likely green tea). It will come useful as temperatures are now very low (between 0 and 5 Celsius in the morning).

Besides this, I also spent a lot of time planning the next two weeks of running. I will be crossing Paris on Tuesday 5th January – and my hometown (Rouen) on Sunday 10th January. I am hoping to run the last part of the run to Rouen with Serge Girard (one of the 6 people who have run around the world) – and also friends and keen runners who have shown me support so far. Organisation takes effort in times of Covid, as I want to welcome as many as possible… yet we are restricted by groups of 6 people maximum in France… We’ll find a way, safely, to meet all!
