Day 776 – Australia – VIC [Peronne to Mitre]

25/07/22

42km

From Peronne (Victoria) to Mitre (Victoria)

Australia

Running into the rain on quiet roads past Goroke and many wetlands

Country roads start

I enjoyed a nice start on dust roads in the morning and was lucky that it was dry. It had been raining all night and I was expecting to run in the rain from the start. 10 or so kilometers into the run, I joined the C213, the country road that I would follow all the way to Horsham (today and tomorrow).

Goroke, a surprise on the way

I passed by Goroke, which to my surprise was dubbed “the gateway to the Little Desert”. A pity I am running south of it and won’t get to run through that national park. Maybe on the upcoming rest-day I’ll have a chance to visit some of it. Meanwhile I took a break in the charming little town of Goroke, replenished my reserve of water and carried on going.

The not so welcomed guest today, rain

Then the rain came and it was a very very wet run till the end! Just one run to go till I reach Horsham, a major urban centre between Adelaide and Melbourne. I feel less tired now, but I still feel I need a rest day. The quality of sleep you get in a motorhome varies with the weather conditions!
