Day 765 – Australia – SA [Rest Day in Adelaide]

Rest day in Adelaide (South Australia, Australia)

Bastille Day festivities in Adelaide

Macarons & Champagne at the Central Market

A great rest day with many perks today! Having two days to chill out in the city makes quite a difference. The morning started with the Bastille Day celebrations at the Central Market. Invited by Marcia the Honorary Consul, I joined the crowd of French people as well as curious Australians. The market is a little jewel, with many delicatessen shops, french, greek, italian – how nice to find fresh bread, croissants, cheese..!

A change from the motorhome-cooked dinners!

In the afternoon we walked the streets of the CBD, the pedestrian areas. I also had to buy something to wear (other than my tshirt and running shoes) for the evening. We have received an invitation for the Bastille Day dinner organised at the Sofitel. And it required proper attire! It was well worth it, the dinner was amazing – it was also paired with local wine and a local winemaker celebrity (Chester Osborn) was there to take us through the story of the wines.

A “tres grand” merci to Marcia Mac Lachlan, who went the extra mile to make sure I had a brilliant time in Adelaide and stunning Bastille Day celebrations. I will not forget this one!
Now it’s on to another rest day, and hopefully seeing a little more of Adelaide.
