Another sunny run in the Moslavina wine region of Central Croatia

Today’s run was slightly hilly, mostly countryside with a crossing of the city of Kutina halfway through. Kutina is a major city of the region of Moslavina, known for its wine – as well as being a business hub in proximity of the capital, Zagreb.

I am really enjoying the runs in Croatia’s countryside. The roads are lined up by a continuous row of houses and there is almost always a pedestrian lane on one side or the other. It feels safe, it is varied and pleasant, I get to see people, get encouragement, take breaks and engage with people (or animals!). As I was playing with a kitten on one of my breaks, I got offered tea by a man named Ivan, in front of his farm! How nice.I am also very impressed by how pristine the countryside is. I have not seen any flytipping area or rubbish scattered around in fields. Serbia was similarly clean. The two countries I remember crossing where this was an issue are Bulgaria and Albania – and in some parts only, not all the way through. Actually, close to the capital city in both cases…

Anyway, it is a great pleasure to run through Croatia. The coastline was superb as I ran down it in July. The countryside is proving equally beautiful. Thumbs up Croatia!
