Day 37 – EU – Spain [Vera to Aguilas]

11th January 2020
Run: 40km

Adios Andalucia and Hola Murcia! Crossing into a new Region of Spain – whilst getting back to standard running distances!

I was full of beans as I woke up this morning, with the reinsurance the past few days have given me, that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my ankles. I am good to start running standard distances again!

As much as I do like to be on the lookout and be proactive about potential signs of tiredness in my body – the past few days were frustrating in the sense that any sign of weakness I had experienced, had disappeared the moment I got my new shoes. I guess it’s best to be somewhat conservatist, so early in the journey – so…. no complaints!

The road was beautiful again, the same mix of mountains and seaside landscapes. No major uphill today, but instead, a constant rolling or undulating road. I kind of like it, as it gives the legs a break and switches the demand on the muscles, tendons and joints.

I left Andalucia behind me and crossed into Murcia. Murcia will be a short crossing of about 10 days, before I reach the next region, Valencia.
